OpenAI releases GPT-6.1 Sol for coding and professional work
The new API model sits one point below GPT-6 Astra on an independent index, with the same $2 / $10 token pricing as other recent mid-tier frontier models.
OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on 29 September 2026 for complex coding and professional work. It is available through the Responses and Chat Completions APIs, and its Responses API support includes multi-agent delegation in beta.
Standard pricing for prompts up to 272,000 input tokens is $2 per million input tokens, $0.10 per million cached input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. OpenAI documents a 1.05-million-token context window and up to 128,000 output tokens.
Artificial Analysis scores GPT-6.1 Sol at 52 on Intelligence Index v4.3.2, one point below GPT-6 Astra and one point below Gemini 4 Argon. Its measured cost per index task is $0.72, although that figure depends on the benchmark’s token use and should not be read as the cost of a typical user request.
The release is proprietary and hosted. OpenAI does not provide downloadable model weights, so GPT-6.1 Sol cannot be matched to a visitor’s local GPU by this site.
