What this service is

CanMyPCRunAI estimates whether a computer can run a given local AI model, by comparing detected hardware against published model specifications. It is provided free of charge and without any account.

Results are estimates

Verdicts are calculated from published model sizes and a memory model covering weights, KV cache, compute buffers and runtime overhead. They are estimates, not guarantees. Real performance depends on your drivers, runtime version, settings, background load and the specific quantization you run.

Where information is not published — architecture details for most models, for example — the site says so and lowers its stated confidence rather than inventing a figure. Treat a result as guidance, and verify before relying on it for a purchase.

The detector

The detector is a read-only utility. You run it yourself, it reads hardware specifications, uploads them to the session you started, and exits. You may delete it afterwards. A SHA-256 checksum is published on the scan page so you can confirm you have the file we distributed.

The detector is not code-signed, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. That warning indicates an unrecognised publisher, not detected malware.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to disrupt the service, evade its rate limits, or use automated means to submit fabricated hardware profiles.

Third-party names

Model, hardware and software names belong to their respective owners and are used here only to identify what is being described. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ollama, Meta, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, AMD or any other named party. Model licences are shown where published; complying with a model's licence is your responsibility.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss arising from use of the site, its estimates or the detector.

Privacy

Data handling is described in the privacy policy.
