Privacy Policy

The short version

CanMyPCRunAI has no accounts and no logins. The detector reads technical hardware specifications only. Your results are deleted from our server within 30 minutes. We never store your IP address. We do use third-party analytics and advertising, which are described in full below.

What the detector reads

The downloadable detector collects only what is needed to judge whether a model will run:

• Operating system name, version and architecture
• CPU vendor, model and core counts
• Total and available system memory
• GPU vendor, model, VRAM capacity and available acceleration backends
• Free disk space
• Whether Ollama is installed, its version, and the names of models already pulled

It does not read your documents, photos, browser history, passwords, saved credentials or any other file. It does not transmit prompts or chat history. It installs nothing and runs only when you start it.

What the server keeps, and for how long

• Hardware profiles are stored against a temporary scan session and deleted 30 minutes after the scan completes.
• IP addresses are never stored. To limit abuse of the upload endpoint we store a salted one-way hash of the connecting address. The address itself cannot be recovered from it.
• A count of completed scans is kept as a single running total. It contains no per-visitor records and survives the deletion of the scans that produced it.
• Your browser keeps a copy of your own results in localStorage for 24 hours so the site can show them when you return. That copy never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count visits and measure page performance. These are cookie-less and do not build a profile of you or track you across other sites. We also record when three specific actions happen — the main button is clicked, a download starts, and a scan finishes — so we can see where people give up. No identifiers are attached to those.

Advertising

This site shows advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and, depending on your choices and location, to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can review and change how Google personalises advertising to you at Google My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time.

Advertising is kept separate from your scan. Your hardware profile is never shared with advertisers or used to target ads.

Model data

Information about AI models is retrieved from the public Ollama registry and model pages. Browsing this site does not send anything about you to Ollama.

Your choices

Because we hold no account and no identifier for you, there is normally nothing of yours for us to look up or delete — any scan you ran is gone within 30 minutes regardless. You can clear your locally stored results by clearing site data in your browser. For questions about this policy, see the about page.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
